Open RPS Football and tap Tutorial on the menu (the little chalkboard). It walks you through the coin toss, kickoff, defense and your first drive in a few minutes. Know your throw shows what every Rock, Paper and Scissors matchup does, and Rules has the full rule book.

Rock beats Scissors, Scissors beats Paper, and Paper beats Rock. If the offense wins the throw, it gains the dice total. If the defense wins, the play can be stopped, sacked or intercepted. Ties bring penalties.

Swipe from the ball toward where you want it to go. The faster you swipe, the farther it slides. On a kickoff or field goal, aim with the direction of your swipe and watch the wind.

On your device. Your career, trophies and Locker Room stay as long as the app is installed. Deleting the app erases them, so keep it installed when you update.

Each rank needs Career Points plus a short list of goals, shown on the Career screen (tap your nameplate on the opening screen). Only what you do at your current rank counts toward the next one.

Pick a screen name and every RPS Football game adds your points to this week's board. Weeks run Monday to Sunday, and the top three earn gold, silver and bronze medals.

Open the Locker Room, then the Trophy Room, and tap your name.

Check the sound button on the menu, and make sure your phone's silent switch is off and the volume is up.

Close the app completely and open it again. If it keeps happening, email us what you were doing and which iPhone or iPad you have, and a screenshot if you can.
